You’re in the grotto for 2-3 minutes, and the water is as electric blue as seen in google images! It costs 14 euros for the transfer and another 10 euro for the grotto entrance. The transfer boat holds approximately 30 people and takes you to the grotto area, you then transfer into a wooden rowboat that holds 4-5 people. It was a neat experience, but if you get sea sick be sure to take gravol beforehand. We visited Capri and did the Blue Grotto. If you’re planning to visit other areas/islands on the coast be sure to take an earlier ferry, as the last ferry back is typically 5:00 – 6:00 p.m.

Beach chairs cost 10-30 euros/person depending on which area you choose to sit, or you can opt to sit on the stone area at no cost, but be sure to bring a towel to sit/lay on. The beach is a 20 minute walk and gets very crowded by noon. Unfortunately one small downside (if you’re a late nighter) is that there is a 1:30 a.m. Music on the Rocks (a small club) was a lot of fun if you’re a party animal and enjoy local and top 40 music. We especially loved Antonio, as he provided us with lots of information about Positano and the coast. Overall Carlo and his staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are quite basic (bed, washroom, and fridge), but that’s all you really need as you’ll likely spend majority of your time exploring. Carlo’s staff took care of our laundry at no additional charge and delivered it to our room, which I found to be very nice. The bus stop (yes there’s a bus!) is also a 2 minute walk from the pensione, and loops around every 10-15 mins. There are great restaurants within 2-5 mins walking distance, as well as a convenient store. The location is great and offers a beautiful view of Positano and the sea from the balconies and terrace. We had a pleasant stay at Pensione Maria-Luisa. Pensione Maria Luisa is one of the few places that's affordable - yes it's basic, but it's well positioned and the view is to die for. It's near-on impossible to find somewhere to stay in Positano that isn't eye-wateringly expensive.

The pensione itself is run by Carlo - he's delightful and friendly and has so much time to give to chat to his guests, it's a pleasure speaking with him. The pensione is near some really good restaurants - Next2 is a more expensive option but the family restaurant - Il Saraceno d'Ora, run by Maria Luisa herself, is excellent for pizza and very reasonable indeed. They have fridges and the air-con functions well. Rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. The location is pretty fab too! Fornillo Beach is straight down the steps from the pensione (coming back up is a killer) this beach is not as packed as Positano and I think is much nicer. Definitely get a room with a private terrace - they are really large and well-equipped with furniture. The best thing about Pensione Maria Luisa is the fabulous view.
